Lea Tahuhu and Hayley Jensen wreaked havoc as Bangladesh collapsed to 32 all out – their second-lowest score in women’s T20Is – to go down by 132 runs in the first T20I in Christchurch, and take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.Tahuhu finished with figures of 4 for 6 – second-best bowling figures among New Zealand Women – while Jansen picked 3 for 8 to help the hosts secure their biggest win in women’s T20Is.Batting first, Sophie Devine, Suzie Bates and Maddy Green made useful contributions to take New Zealand to 164. In defence, their bowlers did not give Bangladesh a sniff, with Tahuhu and Jensen reducing them to 12 for 5 inside the powerplay, and eventually skittling them out without any batter getting into double figures.Earlier, Bates and Devine added 84 runs for the opening wicket in less than 11 overs to get New Zealand off to a sprightly start. Devine was the aggressor out of the two, striking six fours during her knock of 45 from 34 balls, while Bates scored 41 off 33.But Bangladesh fought back, getting rid of both set batters in the space of eight balls. Nahida Akter struck first, sending Bates back, before Jahanara Alam had Devine caught behind soon after.Amelia Kerr and Green then got along, adding 42 runs for the third wicket. Kerr fell off the final ball of the 17th over to Ritu Moni before Green took over. New Zealand racked up 30 runs in the last 3.1 overs, with Green doing the bulk of the scoring. She smashed 36 off 23 balls, taking New Zealand to a competitive score. As it turned out, the target was more than enough, with Bangladesh never really getting their chase going. Jensen struck first to remove Murshida Khatun for 3. Tahuhu then picked up two wickets in her first over, and also removed Rumana Ahmed in her second. There was a 15-run stand for the sixth wicket – the highest of the innings – before a dramatic collapse ensued as Bangladesh lost their last five wickets for just as many runs. Moni’s 6 was the highest contribution in the entire line-up.The series now moves on to Dunedin, where the second T20I will be played on Sunday, with Bangladesh facing a must-win match.

Friedkin and Moyes now eye Everton move to sign £120,000-p/w star for free

Everton and The Friedkin Group are reportedly looking at signing a Premier League player for free ahead of David Moyes’ first full season back in charge.

Everton transfer rumours ahead of Bramley-Moore Dock move

The Toffees have pulled clear of the relegation zone following Moyes’ appointment back in January. The Scot signed a two-and-a-half-year back in Merseyside and will be the man tasked with leading the club at the new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium in 2025/26.

The Friedkin Group are also gearing up for their first full season as Everton owners after taking control in December, and there have been plenty of players linked with moves to the Blues this summer.

Recently, Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma has emerged on Everton’s radar, with Spurs seemingly willing to sell their player in order to sign Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton.

Players with Premier League experience appear to be an avenue Everton are ready to go down, with West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek emerging as a rumoured priority option for Moyes.

Now, another name has been shared as a potential Everton transfer target, and one who may not cost a penny come the summer.

Everton eyeing move to sign £120k-p/w Man Utd ace for free

According to Caught Offside, Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof is attracting plenty of interest ahead of the summer, where he is currently on course to become a free agent.

There have been no discussions over extending his stay at Old Trafford, and it looks as if the Toffees are eyeing a move. Everton are thought to be alerted by Lindelof’s contract situation at Man Utd, alongside Fulham, West Ham and Wolves in the top flight.

Elsewhere, former club Benfica are also keen, whereas AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus also have the £120,000-a-week defender on their list.

The Sweden international, who will turn 31 in the summer, has come up against the Blues on numerous occasions over the years, winning six, drawing four and losing two in his 12 matches against Everton.

Lindelof has plenty of experience in the Premier League and has won the FA Cup and League Cup with the Red Devils during his eight-year stay.

He’s also come in for praise while in England, with teammate Harry Maguire saying back in 2023 after the defender’s goal against Luton Town: “Victor [Lindelof] is technically brilliant. You’ve seen over the years that he’s a great footballer. I’m really pleased for him, he was brilliant today.”

It seems as if Lindelof may have numerous offers on the table over the coming months, and if he decides to remain in England, Everton could be a potential destination going off this recent report.

Worcestershire 157 (Dale 6-41, T Price 4-58) and 51 for 4 (Libby 22, T Price 2-19) drew with Gloucestershire 231 (T Price 109, Leach 4-49) and 226 for 4 dec (Dent 83, Bracey 51)Gloucestershire were denied probable victory by the elements after ripping out the Worcestershire top order on the final day of the LV=Insurance County Championship encounter at New Road. The visitors resumed on 172 for 3 in their second innings and added 54 runs in 10 overs before captain Graeme van Buuren pulled out.Worcestershire were set a 301 target in 84 overs and a mixture of testing bowling in seam-friendly conditions and some poor shot selections reduced them to 51 for 4 with Club Captain Brett D’Oliveira also retiring with a hand injury. But it began raining during the lunch interval to leave Gloucestershire still searching for their first win of the season after last week’s total wash-out against Yorkshire at Bristol. It was hard not to feel sympathy for Gloucestershire, who had shown great resilience to recover from being reduced to 45 for 7 on the opening morning.Tom Price had the once-in-a-lifetime performance with a maiden century and a hat-trick on the same day while Ajeet Singh Dale’s career-best 6 for 41 cemented their position of strength.Worcestershire were left to reflect on failing to capitalise on their early dominance with the ball and would have been the more relieved of the two sides when play was eventually abandoned after tea. Both sides had to be content with eight points.Van Buuren had scored the bulk of the runs during the morning session in making an unbeaten 34, although he survived a chance to deep midwicket off Joe Leach.Chris Dent, for 83, was the one wicket to fall before the declaration when he top-edged a catch to keeper Ben Cox off Matthew Waite.Worcestershire opener Ed Pollock had an escape from the first ball of the innings when he was put down at gulley off Marchant de Lange. But he failed to profit from this let-off and on three went to pull Price and skied a catch to square leg.Azhar Ali was also guilty of a reckless shot when he mistimed a hook against Price and was pouched at mid on.But there was little Jack Haynes could do about a de Lange delivery which lifted on him and flew to second slip as he collected a pair in the game.D’Oliveira, was then forced to retire injured after being struck on what apppeared to be the left hand by another pacey de Lange delivery.Opener Jake Libby made 22 before he nicked a delivery which lifted on him from Dale to gully to leave Worcestershire wobbling at lunch – and then the elements took over.

European side now make £8m Rangers star their priority target this summer

In what could deal the 49ers an instant blow at Ibrox, one European club are reportedly now prioritising a move to sign one of Rangers’ best players when the summer transfer window swings open.

49ers could be dealt instant Rangers blow

The 49ers certainly have a hefty task on their hands when it comes to catching Celtic in the Scottish Premiership. The Bhoys have raced away towards yet another league title this season in a reign of dominance which has looked unlikely to end since the beginning of the campaign. Rangers, meanwhile, have struggled on the domestic front yet again.

That said, the Gers did at least manage to get one over on their rivals in the Old Firm derby last time out, scoring late on to win a five-goal thriller 3-2 in front of the Celtic Park faithful.

The hero of the hour, Hamza Igamane, has been a rare bright spark in a season to forget for the Scottish giants. At just 22 years old, the forward looks destined for big things, however, and that could yet see the Gers suffer a frustrating exit.

According to French news outlet But, Marseille have now made signing Igamane a summer priority in a deal that would cost them just £8m in the coming months. The Ligue 1 giants aren’t alone in their interest though, with the likes of Everton also linked with the forward’s signature in recent weeks.

Scored winner vs Rangers: 49ers may now land bargain deal for "special" ace

He’s set to become a free agent this summer.

ByTom Cunningham Mar 19, 2025

From Old Firm hero, Igamane could break Ibrox hearts this summer. Having only just arrived last summer, the in-demand striker may well be forced to make the most important decision of his career so far when the transfer window opens. Rangers, meanwhile, could be left fearing the worst.

Rangers must keep hold of "brilliant" Igamane

With 14 goals to his name in all competitions, including four in eight Europa League games, it’s not just in the Old Firm derby that Igamane has stolen the headlines at Rangers this season. The Moroccan has been the main man at Ibrox and could yet fire the Gers to another European outing to remember when Athletic Club come to town in April.

Earning plenty of praise as a result of his fine form, former Rangers man Derek Ferguson told reporters when asked about Igamane earlier this season: “Igamane is a real breath of fresh air, the young man.

“The manager said he was trying to get him up to speed, but in the last few games, he has been nothing short of brilliant. He is off the cuff and he had three or four nutmegs this afternoon – and took his goal brilliantly. I don’t know if you remember Ted McMinn, but Igamane’s got that unpredictability.”

Whether it’s Everton, Marseille or another interested party, Rangers must keep hold of Igamane if they are to stand any chance of catching Celtic next season. As the 49ers look to make their mark, the young forward is likely to be their biggest star.

Harrison Ward and Shadab Khan see Sussex home in basement battle with Gloucestershire

Ward strikes maiden T20 half-century as 141 target taken down with ease

Harrison Ward struck a brutal half-century to propel Sussex Sharks to a comfortable seven-wicket triumph over South Group rivals Gloucestershire in a one-sided Vitality Blast contest beneath the floodlights in Bristol. The left-hander smashed 51 from 27 balls, with five sixes and two fours, and dominated a match-winning opening partnership of 83 with Tom Clark as Sharks chased down a victory target of 141 with 6.4 overs to spare.Aristidis Karvelas had earlier put the skids under Gloucestershire with 4 for 20 in 3.2 overs, including three wickets in eight balls during the powerplay. Legspinner Shadab Khan weighed in with 4 for 27 during the middle part of the innings as Gloucestershire were bowled out for 140 in 19.2 overs.Overseas hired hand Grant Roelofsen top-scored with 41for Gloucestershire, and they were indebted to Matt Taylor and Tom Smith, who added 31 for the last wicket to at least provide a veneer of respectability.A seventh defeat in 11 games signalled the end of Gloucestershire’s quest for a place in the quarter-finals, while victory moved Sussex level on points with their opponents, albeit in the lower reaches of the table. If Gloucestershire were relying upon the left-handers in their top order to exploit a short boundary, they were quickly made to think again as Miles Hammond and Ben Charlesworth fell to consecutive Karvelas deliveries in the first over with the score on nine. Hammond top-edged a short-pitched ball to Shadab Khan at third man, while Charlesworth offered a meek return catch and departed without scoring.Karvelas struck again in his next over from the Ashley Down Road End, inducing Ben Wells to slice to third man as the home side lurched to 15 for 3, leaving opener Roelofsen and new batter Ollie Price to recover a parlous situation the best they could.Understandably averse to taking too many risks, the fourth wicket pair progressed the score to 43 by the end of the six-over powerplay, Roelofsen plundering a brace of boundaries at the expense of Henry Crocombe to afford the home side some much-needed momentum.Visibly growing in confidence, Roelofsen greeted Shadab’s leg breaks with a towering six over midwicket to equal his highest score in the competition for Gloucestershire and then repeated the feat in the spinner’s next over to pass 40 for the first time this season.Just when it looked as though a half-century was his for the taking, the South African fluffed his lines, cutting Shadab to backward point and departing for 41, having faced 27 balls, dominating a stand of 50 with Price. It seemed no Gloucestershire batter was able to convert a start into a big score and apply significant pressure, Price advancing to 19 before hoisting Shadab high to George Garton at cow corner as the hosts slipped to 78-5 in the eleventh.Zafar Gohar then played and missed a straight one from Shadab, who had Tom Price held at wide mid-on five balls later to further reduce Gloucestershire to 93 for 7 at the end of the thirteenth. Graeme van Buuren edged a catch behind off Garton, David Payne was held in the deep off James Coles and it was left to Taylor and Smith to save face at the death.Gloucestershire desperately needed to take early wickets if they were to have any hope of defending a paltry total. But Ward and Clark were clearly reading from an altogether different script, these two managing to take full advantage of the short boundary in a whirlwind opening stand of 83 in 6.4 overs.Ward took matters into his own hands in the fifth over, smashing three huge sixes off Taylor to bring the rate down to below a run a ball, while Clark drove Tom Price for a maximum of his own to propel Sharks to 78 without loss at the end of the powerplay and effectively take the game away from Gloucestershire. Clark also weighed in with a quartet of fours in a 19-ball knock of 27, which ended when he drove slow left armer Smith to Hammond at extra cover. But there was no respite for the home side, Harrison going to 50 via 25 balls as Sharks continued to make good progress. Smith removed the hard-hitting opener in the ninth over and Zafar bowled Oli Carter for 10 as spin made inroads, only for experienced captain Ravi Bopara (11 not out) and Shadab (28 not out) to see their side home in a no-thrills unbroken stand of 36 for the fourth wicket.
