Sunderland supporters will be trying to hold back their excitement ahead of the new Premier League season finally kicking off.

There’s no guarantee in place that signings galore will improve your chances of staying afloat in the tricky division, with Ipswich Town picking up 14 total purchases last season and still managing to fall through the relegation trapdoor.

But, the star-studded quality of signing Sunderland is managing to attract makes being giddy quite hard to contain, with the standout £20m purchase of Enzo Le Fee getting the ball rolling this summer, whilst a £30m deal for Habib Diarra to join from Strasbourg edges ever nearer to completion.

Reinildo is also set to join the Stadium of Light ranks after allowing his Atletico Madrid contract to expire, with plenty more notable names being tipped to call Wearside their fresh home shortly.

Most Sunderland supporters would have been initially apprehensive about all the business being conducted in this hectic transfer window, considering the window opened with both Jobe Bellingham and Tommy Watson deserting the Stadium of Light.

Now, however, the mood has flipped, with the likes of Georgian superstar Georges Mikautadze being tipped to join Le Bris’ enthused ranks alongside those already named, on top of an alleged £17m bid being lodged by the Black Cats to snap up Nantes attacker Matthis Abline.

The most intriguing purchase of them all could soon come in the form of Almeria goal-machine Luis Suarez moving to England, with reports from Spain now suggesting that Sunderland have enquired about landing the explosive attacker.

Such a deal would result in the Black Cats having to fork out £21m, with the La Liga 2 side upping their transfer valuation off the back of Suarez’s impressive 2024/25 offering.

It could even be argued that snapping up the clinical Colombian would see the newly promoted side land an even bigger talent than Diarra, despite the Senegal international costing Sunderland a club-record £30m to snap up.

After all, whilst Diarra was able to boast four goals and five assists from the midfield areas last season for Liam Rosenior’s men, Suarez’s numbers up top for Almeria in another demanding European setting are an even more majestic sight to take in.

Indeed, the “crazy” South American – as he was once labelled by talent scout Jacek Kulig – would take La Liga 2 by storm with his devastating goalscoring prowess.

Staggeringly, Suarez would also chip in with eight assists across his 41 La Liga 2 outings, which is three more assists than Diarra managed in the heart of Strasbourg’s midfield, with the hope that the dangerous Almeria marksman can offer up similarly deadly displays when leaping up to the Premier League.

He could instantly displace Wilson Isidor on his arrival, therefore, considering the Frenchman blew hot and cold last campaign with just 13 Championship goals next to his name, away from Suarez wreaking havoc in the Spanish second division.

On the contrary, it doesn’t feel as set in stone that Diarra would instantly dive into Le Bris’ XI – irrespective of his lofty price tag – with Dan Neil already at the Frenchman’s disposal centrally who collected five goal contributions himself last season in league action, alongside Le Bris also possessing the star-quality of Le Fee who could kick on even more up a division.

Whilst Diarra will no doubt go on to be a success story under the ex-Lorient manager’s wing if Le Fee’s trajectory is anything to go off of, it does appear as if Suarez could really burst into life even more as a terrifying goalscorer on Wearside, with his blistering introduction into the English game perhaps helping the Black Cats to maintain their fraught Premier League status.

Captain Phil Salt and Matty Hurst got Originals’ innings off to a very promising start with 90 for the opening partnership. وواصل: “فسألت: هل يوجد مدرب متوفر من (الكلاس ب)؟ فأجاب: نعم، هناك ثلاثة مدربين متاحين بشدة، وسيتم المقارنة بينهم للوصول إلى القرار الصحيح”.

واستمر: “هل سيدير عماد النحاس مباراة إنبي؟ قال لي: مؤكد بنسبة 100%، لا شك في هذا الأمر، فسألت إذا كان يمكنني الإعلان عن ذلك، فأجاب: نحن نتحدث فقط، لكنك تستطيع أن تقول للناس، طالما أن لديك علاقة جيدة بالمسؤولين داخل النادي”.

وأردف شوبير: “شعرت أن القصة قريبة وليست بعيدة عن الحل، سألته عن الجهاز الفني الحالي فقال: جهاز محترم وأهلاوي ويستحق كل تقدير وتحية، ونسأل الله التوفيق لهم في مهمتهم”.

Having already welcomed Anthony Elanga, Newcastle United are now reportedly “pushing” to sign Hugo Ekitike in a deal worth over £60m this summer.

Securing their second signing of the summer and their biggest so far following Antonio Cordero’s initial arrival, Newcastle will be glad to have got Elanga over the line. The Swede enjoyed an excellent campaign with Nottingham Forest last time out – scoring six goals as well as assisting a further 12 in all competitions – and will now form one of the Premier League’s deadliest trios alongside Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon.

Speaking for the first time since welcoming Elanga, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe told the club website: “I’m delighted to welcome Anthony to Newcastle United. He has been a key target for us so I’m delighted to secure him at this early part of pre-season.

“He is an exciting talent with attributes that make him a unique attacking threat. His pace, energy and ability to create and score goals will strengthen us and complement the way we want to play. Anthony is hungry to develop even further with us and to achieve success here, and we’re all looking forward to working with him.”

However, after spending around £55m to reinforce Newcastle’s frontline, PIF still reportedly have unfinished business in the summer transfer window. Recent reports have linked the Magpies with moves for the likes of Giorgio Scalvini, who would be an impressive defensive addition, while a move for James Trafford has been on the cards for some time.

What’s more, fresh reports are now claiming that those at St James’ Park are “pushing” to welcome another talented attacking option.

Downie: What Hugo Ekitike bid means for Alexander Isak

According to Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle are now “pushing” to sign Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt after submitting a bid worth over €70m (£61m). Jumping ahead of the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea in the race to sign the Frenchman, the Magpies could be about to form quite the strike partnership between Ekitike and Isak.

Keith Downie has since added comment on the concerns around Isak’s future, speaking to Sky Sports live from outside St James’ Park on Tuesday morning.

While the reporter does confirm the Magpies want the Sweden superstar to sign a new contract and hope to begin talks soon, he claims the club will be in a “completely different scenario” next summer if a new deal is not signed and may well be getting their ducks in a row for Isak to leave in 2026.

There will be some concerns over how Ekitike underperformed his expected goals total last season, but keeping hold of the clinical Isak – at least for now – would instantly nullify those concerns.

The forward’s rise is one that former Reims manager Oscar Garcia saw coming from the start of his career, having told reporters: “There is something very special about him. He’s young, and he has the quality to become a very good player. He’s a young man with a lot of quality but also a lot to improve on, but he works hard in training.”

وبدأ ألونسو مؤتمره الصحفي في لقاء اليوم والذي نقلته صحيفة “آس” بالحديث عن لقاء ليفانتي، حيث قال: ”أي مباراة خارج ملعبنا ليست سهلة وليفانتي خصم شرس ولديهم مدرب مميز، غدًا علينا القيام بالكثير من الأمور بشكل جيد وأن نلعب بجودة عالية وإيقاع متسارع وتركيز عال”.

وعن الكرة الذهبية وما إذا سيكون هناك مفاجأة بعدم فوز نجم باريس سان جيرمان، عثمان ديمبلي، بالكرة الذهبية، أجاب ألونسو: ”الأمر ليس من شأني، لست جزءًا من لجنة التحكيم الخاصة بالجائزة ولم أفكر كثيرًا في هذا الأمر، أفكر فقط في ليفانتي”.

Howe delivers verdict on "difficult" summer

Those at St James’ Park have had plenty of ambition without reward so far this summer. Whilst they deserve praise for the signing of Anthony Elanga, other targets have come and gone elsewhere in what has become the frustrating trend of their transfer window.

The latest to do so looks set to be Hugo Ekitike. Although reports suggested that Newcastle had already submitted an opening bid for the Frenchman with a second on the way, Liverpool soon swooped in to steal a march on the Magpies. With concerns that the Reds would instead turn towards Alexander Isak if they missed out on the Frankfurt star, Newcastle dropped out of the race for his signature.

Eddie Howe, like all involved at St James’ Park, will be incredibly disappointed by how the summer transfer window has gone so far. He told reporters when asked about Newcastle’s business: “It was a difficult summer (to switch off) with everything going on behind the scenes.

“Obviously losing Paul (Mitchell) and all of the dynamics changing within (the club). The Sporting Director role is such a pivotal role at the club, so there was a lot (of work) to pick up.

“There has been a lot of work, transfer-wise, for very little incoming action, although we are delighted to get Anthony Elanga in, who has done very well in training so far. But a lot more work (is needed) behind the scenes in preparation for the new season.”

After calling for more work to be done, Howe may not exactly get his wish, however. In fact, reports are now suggesting that PIF could even play a part in dealing Newcastle their biggest blow yet.

Saudi giants plotting shock Isak move

According to Sky’s Gianluca Di Marzio, Al-Hilal are now plotting a shock move to sign Isak from Newcastle this summer in what would see PIF work on a deal between two of their majority owned clubs. Led by Simone Inzaghi, the Saudi market is said to be “heating up” with Al-Hilal “considering a massive offer to convince both the club and the player.”

It’s an unexpected twist, to say the least, but the Magpies could now reportedly lose out to the rich owners that they entrusted with keeping the Swede in the first place.

Despite the fact that PIF own a majority stake in both clubs, there would reportedly be no issue regarding the regulations if Al-Hilal did sign Isak this summer. Having lost out on Ekitike to fend off any interest from Liverpool in Isak, it would now be the summer’s most shocking turn if the forward moved to the Saudi Pro League courtesy of PIF.

There’s no doubt that the Magpies would be losing one of, if not the, best striker in the Premier League or perhaps world football, who earned plenty of praise from Gary Neville last season.

The Manchester United legend and Sky Sports pundit said after Newcastle defeated the Red Devils: “You could really see the quality of his play and his movement tonight.

“He’s absolutely fantastic and he’s improving all the time. We know he can score goals, we know he can run, but also his hold-up play and his link with others has got better and better since he’s been at Newcastle.”

Manchester City have had a busy summer transfer window already. Pep Guardiola’s side were poor for the majority of the 2024/25 campaign, and now there seems to be a real focus on reshaping the squad over the summer transfer window.

After losing Kevin De Bruyne on a free transfer, there was a clear focus on signing a new attacking midfielder. Rayan Cherki was the man they brought in, costing £30m from French side Lyon. He certainly has big shoes to fill, with great number tens like De Bruyne and David Silva coming before him.

Losing De Bruyne to Napoli was certainly something people may have expected, but replacing him will be an incredibly tough task. That is perhaps why City want to sign another playmaker to help reduce the workload on Cherki.

Well, according to a new report from Spain, City may have identified their target, Barcelona and Spain midfielder Fermin Lopez. Citizens boss Guardiola is said to have set his sights on signing the La Masia graduate from his former club this summer.

Why Fermin would be a good signing

Breaking into the Barcelona first team at any time is easier said than done. With that in mind, for Fermin to become an important player in Hansi Flick’s midfield alongside the likes of Pedri is a real testament to his ability, and perhaps why football talent scout Jacek Kulig called him a “genius”.

His value to a successful Barca side last season was clear to see. The 22-year-old played 46 times across all competitions, scoring eight times and registering ten assists. His versatility was important for Flick, who deployed him as a number eight, a number 10 and both flanks.

Fermin is already a Spain international and was a key part of their gold medal-winning Olympic side last summer. His record was exceptional, playing in all six of Spain’s games, scoring six goals and bagging two assists, including two goals in a 5-3 win over hosts France in the final.

If City were to bring Fermin to the Etihad Stadium this summer, they would love for him to have the same impact as Silva did at the club. The Spanish attacking midfielder was once called “Manchester City’s greatest ever player” by Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher.

It is easy to see why the silky attacking midfielder is so well-thought of as a City player. He played 436 games for the club, scoring 77 goals and registering a phenomenal 136 assists. He was a key part of four Premier League title-winning sides, having also arrived from LaLiga after joining from Valencia in 2010.

With words like “genius” being thrown around to describe Fermin, it is easy to see how he can become their new Silva. There are clear similarities between the two, with them both being Spanish attacking midfielders who can orchestrate play and create chance after chance for their team.

Of course, it is not easy to hit the heights of a legend like Silva. Yet, Fermin has already shown great signs that he can become a top creative player in midfield. If his performance in the Olympics was anything to go by, City will have an exciting talent on their hands.
